Diabetes

The Diabetes Teaching and Treatment Centre at St. Paul’s Hospital is the busiest treatment and training centre of its kind in Canada, offering a variety of programs designed to:

• Provide basic knowledge and understanding of diabetes.
• Teach skills in self-care and home management.
• Inform family members about diabetes so they may help in the management and support of those with diabetes mellitus.

Programs are offered for patients who have been recently diagnosed with diabetes. We have special program designed for those who speak Cantonese. The centre also has a gestational program for women who have been diagnosed with diabetes during pregnancy. The Diabetes Centre is managed by a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, dietitians, clerical staff, and a social work liaison.

Endocrinology
