Welcome to Mount Saint Joseph Long-Term Care. We are a complex care long-term care facility that is home to 60 residents, the majority of whom are Chinese-Canadian. Our care program embraces and celebrates the culture of everyone who we care for, with a special focus on the care needs and communication needs of the Chinese-Canadian population.

Every effort is made to ensure a home-like atmosphere here. At Mount Saint Joseph residents live in an elder-centred community. Each area of the residence is called a neighbourhood. The other residents, family members and caregivers are their neighbours.

Mount Saint Joseph Long-Term Care Home is located on the second floor of Mount Saint Joseph Hospital which also has acute, outpatient and emergency care services – all of which operate separately from the home.

Amenities

Residents have year-round access to a sunroom for meetings and family gatherings, and outdoor patios during warm weather. We have a dining room where the main activities take place and other smaller common areas for quiet group activities and where group visits can take place.

Residents receive care and services from an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nursing, care aides, social work, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, music therapy, spiritual health, and dietitian and rehabilitation assistants. Volunteers also frequently assist with activities and visiting at the home.

Mount Saint Joseph long-term care has an active family council and families and loved ones of residents are welcome to participate on the council and in many activities organized for and with residents.

Visiting

You can have visitors any time. There are no set visiting hours for residents. The best time to invite visitors is after 11:00 am, once everyone has woken up and housekeeping is finished.  If your visitors plan to come at night after our doors are locked, please have them call ahead. This way, we can be ready to let them in. We are also happy to work with families who want to be involved in your daily care.

Access to Mount Saint Joseph long-term care home is protected by a passcode in the elevator to ensure the safety of the residents. Your visitors can get the code by contacting the nursing station.
