Jennifer Chan

As General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer, Jennifer supports the delivery of patient care through risk mitigation, legal compliance, privacy protection, and partnership building. Her team takes pride in accelerating progress towards Providence Health Care’s strategic goals, transforming diverse perspectives and interests into actionable, legally compliant solutions centred on the rights and well-being of patients and staff.

Prior to joining Providence Health Care, Jennifer developed a broad legal skillset across private sector and public interest environments, including capital projects and infrastructure, commercial transactions, professional regulation, policy development, and investigations.

Jennifer holds degrees from Harvard (LL.M.), Oxford (M.Sc. Pharmacology), U. Victoria (LL.B) and UBC (B.Sc. Microbiology) and is a graduate of the ICD-Rotman Directors Education Program (ICD.D). She is committed to strengthening the governance of public sector organizations, serves on the TransLink Board of Directors, and was previously the Chair of the Vancouver Public Library.
