Join our compassionate and collaborative team as a Registration-Switchboard Clerk at the qathet General Hospital located in Powell River, BC.

What You Will Do

In this essential frontline role, you’ll be the first point of contact for patients and visitors—setting the tone for their health care experience and ensuring smooth administrative and communication processes.

Your Day to Day

As a Registration-Switchboard Clerk, you will:

  • Register patients for emergency and diagnostic services using a computerized system.

  • Process admissions, discharges, and transfers with accuracy.

  • Operate a computerized switchboard and page system; direct calls and locate personnel as needed.

  • Respond quickly to emergency codes and situations, following established protocols.

  • Greet and assist patients and visitors at reception; perform clerical duties related to patient records and departmental communications.

Education & Experience:

  • Grade 12 and two years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills And Abilities:

  • Ability to keyboard at 40 w.p.m.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
