Preparing for your visit

Two days before your appointment

Your doctor may order a blood test to be done one to two days before your appointment. It is very important to do this, as your blood-test results help your care team make decisions about your treatment.

One day before your appointment

You must call the MSSU (604-682-2344, extension 62437) the day before your appointment to confirm that you are coming.

What to bring to your appointment

  • Your BC Services Card
  • The names and telephone numbers (home, work and cell phone numbers) of two contact people
  • A list of any allergies you have
  • Something to help pass the time such as a book, magazine, or an electrical device such as a tablet or laptop computer (ask reception for the wi-fi password)
  • Cellphones are allowed, but please keep your calls brief so as not to disturb other patients, and to allow our staff to care for you thoroughly
  • You may bring a friend or family member to stay with you
  • You may bring any food or drink that you would like
  • Please bring your meals with you (tea, coffee and juice are available on the unit)
