About this clinic

Hypertension (high blood pressure) is a common medical problem in British Columbia. The Hypertension Clinic uses an evidence-based approach to provide care to our patients. We provide diagnostic and management service for those with high blood pressure. Treatments include health behaviour modification and patient education programs.

The Hypertension Clinic consists of a health care team from many different health areas. It includes your primary care provider, and specialists in cardiology (heart), nephrology (kidney) and neurology (nervous system). We can connect you to dieticians, pharmacists, exercise specialists and behavioural medicine specialists depending on your needs.

The Hypertension Clinic also has a strong research program. We train many medical students, family practice residents and medical residents in our clinic.

The Hypertension Clinic accepts referrals for all patients with hypertension.

Clinical trials & research

Advances in treatments are all thanks to medical research. While participating in research is a decision you should make for yourself in consultation with your care team, there is much activity in this area so please ask us about our research programs if you’re interested.

By taking part in research, you can help us all learn more about advancing health outcomes and find better ways to help people live and thrive. While you cannot assume benefit to yourself, your participation can make a difference in improving care for future patients.

The following clinical trials are currently enrolling volunteers. Please ask your care team for more information or contact the research team listed on each study or trial. For other information about research at Providence Health Care, please visit Providence Research.
