Contact Dermatitis Clinic

Location

Room 518, Davie Building

This clinic is located on Davie Street around the corner from St. Paul's Hospital.

Finding our clinic

We are located on the north side of Davie Street just west of Burrard Street. Once you enter the building, the elevators are directly in front of you. Take the elevator to the 5th floor. When you exit the elevator on the 5th floor the Dermatology Centre is just to the right. The door will be closed, but unlocked (9am-5pm) and you can enter and check in with the front desk clerk. Please have your care card ready and let the front desk clerk know you are checking in for patch testing. Make sure to arrive 10 minutes before your first appointment, to allow time for registration.

About this clinic

We provide clinical assessments and comprehensive skin patch testing. These tests help in the evaluation of allergic contact dermatitis, including occupational dermatitis. Patch testing will determine if you are allergic to something that your skin has come in contact with. Avoiding products with ingredients or substances you are allergic to may relieve your skin symptoms.

Clinical trials & research

Advances in treatments are all thanks to medical research. While participating in research is a decision you should make for yourself in consultation with your care team, there is much activity in this area so please ask us about our research programs if you’re interested.

By taking part in research, you can help us all learn more about advancing health outcomes and find better ways to help people live and thrive. While you cannot assume benefit to yourself, your participation can make a difference in improving care for future patients.

The following clinical trials are currently enrolling volunteers. Please ask your care team for more information or contact the research team listed on each study or trial. For other information about research at Providence Health Care, please visit Providence Research.

Medical & professional referrals

The clinic only accepts referrals from dermatologists.

In order to access patch testing through the Contact Dermatitis Clinic at St. Paul’s Hospital you must first be referred to Dr. Gillian de Gannes at her private office. Your dermatologist needs to fax a referral to 604-731-6166. The appointment details will be sent to the referring physician’s office and you will then be notified of your consultation date and time.
