Read about how St. Paul’s Hospital is working towards revolutionizing the treatment of mental health issues, just as it did for HIV/AIDS care three decades ago.

Visiting Hours – Family presence at Providence Health Care
Family plays an important role in a patient’s and resident’s healing process. Families are welcome to be present at any time – Providence Health Care does not restrict visiting hours to family members. Click here to learn more.

Release of Patient Information
Please note that when patients are admitted to Mount Saint Joseph, they are asked to choose whether or not the hospital can release information about their presence and general condition to visitors and callers. If a patient wishes that information not be released, the Information Desk will respect the decision, and will not give information to any caller or visitor, even if they are close family or friends.
Residential Visiting Hours
There are no set visiting hours for residents. During the early morning, you and your neighbours will be getting up and we will be doing our housekeeping, so it is always best to invite visitors to come after 11:00am. If your visitors wish to come in at night after our doors are locked, please have them call ahead so we can be ready to let them in. Some families like to take part in your daily care, and we are happy to work with them. Others prefer to be involved in activities you enjoy or simply keep you company. Children bring spontaneity, companionship and many pleasurable moments to residents and staff, and their visits are always welcomed and encouraged. Don’t forget that your family and friends are welcome to join you in any of our activities. We will give you a booklet on ‘Making the most of your Visit’. Please share it with your family and friends. If you don’t receive one soon after moving in, please ask your social worker.
We have one or two rooms available for families to use for gatherings. Catering can be arranged through Food Services. Please ask Food Services about their charges. If your family prefers to bring in food – no problem! After the gathering, we ask the room be left clean for the enjoyment of other residents.
Pets are also welcome visitors. We ask the owner of the pet to keep the visiting animal under control at all times, so your pet will not be the cause of someone being hurt or falling. Pet owners are responsible for immediate clean up after the pet both within the residence and on surrounding property. We may also have a pet or two who live in our home. Donations are welcome to pay for their food and veterinary services. If you would like to help us in caring for our pets, we would love to have you be part of our pet care team. Just let one of us know. If you have allergies to any animal, please let us know.
