Monsignor Gregory Smith joined the Providence Health Care Society in 2008.

He is a pastor of Christ the Redeemer Parish in West Vancouver and the director of the Archdiocese of Vancouver’s first program for permanent deacons.

A graduate of political sciences from the University of British Columbia, Monsignor Smith studied canon law at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., from which he received the licentiate degree, and in Rome at the Pontifical Gregorian University, from which he received a doctorate. He is a priest of the Archdiocese of Vancouver, which he has served as Chancellor, Episcopal Vicar, and Moderator of the Curia.

Monsignor Smith received the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada Medal in 1992 and was named a Prelate of Honour of His Holiness in 1995.
