Preparing for your visit

You may need intravenous antibiotic treatment. Our team will determine what treatment you need. Your first visit may last one hour or more. You will not need to stay overnight in the hospital. Expect your visit to last between 30 mins and two hours.

Getting ready

Check the information sheet that the St. Paul’s Emergency Department gave you for your appointment time. Please arrive at the OPAT clinic 15 minutes before your appointment time.

We will give you any future appointment dates when you leave after your first visit.

Dietary instructions

You may eat regular meals before your appointment.

Transportation & parking

Remember to allow time (approximately 30 minutes) before your appointment to get from your car or transit to the clinic area. If you are new to the clinic and need directions when you arrive at St. Paul’s Hospital, ask a volunteer or reception for directions to our front door. Please remember the name of the clinic to get the best assistance.

Drop off and pick up

Temporary parking is available at the Comox Street entrance and on Burrard Street.

  • BC Service Card or CareCard
  • A piece of Personal Identification, such as your passport
  • A list of your medications and allergies

Missed appointments

If you miss your next appointment, call the OPAT clinic at 604-682-2344, ext. 63580. You can make a new appointment, or return to St. Paul’s Hospital Emergency Department to continue your antibiotics treatment.
