Providence Health Care named one of BC’s Top Employers for 2016

Vancouver, February 6, 2016 – With a proud tradition of compassionate care for society’s most vulnerable, Providence Health Care continues to lead the way as an exceptional place to work. The health organization has been chosen as one of BC’s Top Employers for 2016, selected from hundreds of companies.

“As health minister, I have had the opportunity to meet with many Providence Health Care employees from physicians to frontline staff,” said Health Minister Terry Lake. “Their level of commitment to improving patient care shows and is a testament to Providence’s focus on a healthy, engaged workforce.”

“The heart of Providence’s values is in our six core values and right in our logo. ‘How you want to be treated.’ This doesn’t just apply to our patients. It’s just as relevant for our dedicated caregivers – our physicians, researchers, staff, volunteers and partners – and really does make this an exceptional place to work,” says President and CEO Dianne Doyle. She knows firsthand, having started her career at PHC as a registered nurse.

The results were announced February 6, 2016, by Mediacorp Canada Inc. (the organizers of the Canada’s Top Employers competition). This is the sixth time PHC has held a spot on this prestigious list. The BC’s Top Employers competition considers a variety of criteria such as recruitment and retention, as well as high employment standards and performance in several areas. This includes: physical workplace; work and social atmosphere; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.

With more than 6500 employees, Providence prides itself on fostering a team culture where all people are respected, regardless of position and cultural or ethnic background. The organization works hard to ensure everyone has the opportunity to fulfill their own personal career aspirations, contributing their skills and expertise to its continued excellence.
