Patient and Resident Care Boosted at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital

Vancouver, July 23, 2007 — Patient and resident care at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital recently got a boost of $870,000 in funding for medical equipment from the new Tapestry Foundation for Health Care.
A large number of priority equipment needs are being addressed with the funding that includes critical care beds, pressure relief mattresses, a microscope for surgical eye procedures, and a patient wandering system for residents in extended care.

Funds distributed come from donations previously made to Mount Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation. “Donations made to Mount Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation were instrumental in keeping this hospital at the forefront of change within our health care community,” explained Tapestry Foundation Vice-Chair Doris Chang. “We are confident the new Tapestry Foundation will rise to the same challenge and continue meeting the needs of patients and residents at the hospital.”

The foundations of St. Vincent’s, Holy Family and Mount Saint Joseph Hospitals were recently merged into one organization to support seven of Providence Health Care’s eight facilities in Vancouver. The new Tapestry Foundation is building on the accomplishments of these three past foundations and their legacy of support for compassionate care in the community.

“Donors who supported Mount Saint Joseph Hospital in the past can continue to do so through Tapestry Foundation,” added Chang. “Donors can designate their gifts to the Providence site of their choice, with 100% of that donation used at that site.”

Tapestry Foundation is moving forward with fundraising plans for further equipment needs at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital including six cardiac monitoring systems for the emergency room and intensive care unit. For more information on these and other priority needs, contact the Foundation office at 604.877.8335.
