Media Policy

Media relations is a priority for the Communications & Public Affairs Department at Providence Health Care.

Overview

You can reach us in the Communications & Public Affairs Department any time between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday to Friday by calling 604-806-8022 or alternatively, you can reach us through our media pager (24 hours) at 604-312-3547. We will do the legwork for you – tracking down the information you need and coordinating interviews with physicians, staff, researchers and patients. We also escort members of the media when they are on our sites.

The following policies are in place to protect patient, resident and employee confidentiality, as legislated under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

  • All media calls must be directed to the Communications & Public Affairs Department. No media interviews can be done unless cleared through this department.
  • All media representatives visiting Providence sites must be escorted in and out of the facility by a Communications & Public Affairs team member (or designate).
  • Communications & Public Affairs must receive written consent from patients before they are interviewed, filmed , or photographed. Documentary film producers must submit a written synopsis about their project to Communications & Public Affairs. If consent to film is given, a written agreement must first be signed.
