Speech Language Pathology Assistant

Reporting to the Professional Practice Leader Speech-Language Pathology (PPL S-LP) and receiving work direction from the Speech-Language Pathologists, the position performs a variety of speech duties at various sites within PHC, such as administering routine screenings and procedures, assisting the Speech-Language Pathologists with patient treatments, and monitoring and maintaining inventory and equipment. Schedules patient procedures, admits and discharges patient referrals to Speech & Hearing services, and performs clerical duties as required.
SkillsAbility to keyboard at 45 w.p.m.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Valid BC, Class V Drivers’ Licence and access to a vehicle.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
EducationCompletion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program with includes Speech-Language content (such as a Speech and Language Assistant training program ) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
