Summary

Reporting to the Director, Support Services, the Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership, management of human, financial and material resources for Laundry & Linen, Stores & Distribution, Transportation and Central Mail Services. This position is accountable for the day-to-day operations, monitoring, coordinating, controlling and administering of inventory replenishment and delivery of services. Provides key management support to ensure the overall effective utilization of personnel, services and equipment and resolving operational issues to ensure departmental service requirements are met. The position provides sound decision-making and leadership in a challenging climate and on matters involving supply chain service and distribution and standards, and needs and standards related to laundry and linen , transportation and central mail services. Supervises staff, makes resource planning and selection decisions in collaboration with the Director, establishes performance expectations, conducts performance evaluations and resolves disciplinary matters. The position participates in developing and monitoring the budget and assists the Director in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of systems, processes, policies, procedures, products, services and equipment and in the overall strategic plan for the department.
The position coordinates and maintains the contractual relationship between PHC and designated contract services. Liaises with contractor personnel, reviews and monitors existing agreements for contract adherence, responds to service issues and escalates issues as required.

Education

Bachelors Degree in related Business Operations Management, plus five (5) years leadership experience, (including experience in materiel services functions with emphasis on supply chain management and/or logistics, and experience resolving client complaints in a hospital or similar large institutional environment), or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Duties


Coordinates the day-to-day operations of Laundry & Linen, Stores & Distribution, Transportation and Central Mail Services by providing key management support to ensure the overall effective utilization of respective personnel, services and equipment. Investigates and resolves operational issues involving service level concerns or staff performance issues. Schedules shifts, statutory holiday vacations and relief, approves over-time and leaves of absence for staff.

Supervises designated staff, interviews applicants, makes staff resource planning and selection decisions, establishes performance expectations, determines required orientation and training, , conducts related training and orientation for staff as required, familiarizes staff with new procedures, conducts performance evaluations and resolves disciplinary matters. Where necessary, initiates disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Assists the Director in developing and monitoring the budget. Provides input into budget requirements and monitors expenditures by reviewing and verifying invoices.
