Providence Health Care (PHC) is a leading care, teaching and research organization and the provincial referral centre for Cardiac, HIV/AIDS and Renal Care. Our sixteen sites in Greater Vancouver include a large, downtown tertiary hospital (St. Paul’s Hospital), a smaller community hospital (Mount Saint Joseph Hospital), a rehabilitation centre (Holy Family Hospital), five residential care facilities and an addictions clinic in the Downtown Eastside. Reporting to the Director, Communications & Public Affairs and supervised by the Senior Communications Specialist, you will be on the front lines of PHC’s social media and digital marketing efforts. You’ll need to be highly focused and self-motivated, with an excellent technical understanding of social/digital media and an innovative vision of how to apply it in promoting PHC’s strategic priorities and engaging target audiences. This job can work remotely with a periodic need to come in to cover special events.

Extremely detail oriented, you have strong writing, and an acute social media knowledge that will foster fresh ideas in building a stronger social media presence for Providence Health Care. As an integral member of the Communication & Public Affairs Team, along with providing strategic support, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing digital marketing and communications activities by scheduling and producing content (text, graphics, video and other multimedia elements), and distributing through appropriate digital channels to promote awareness and understanding of PHC’s population of emphasis.
  • Daily engagement with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and other social communities, including responding and real-time issues management.
  • Creating and executing on a weekly and monthly content calendar for different social media and digital platforms in concert with the Public Affairs team.
  • Designing and leading campaigns that identify, engage and activate target audiences based on PHC’s strategic priorities.
  • Engaging with bloggers, health writers and other key influencers to develop high impact relationships.
  • Develops and maintains digital tools, including PHC’s website and brand journalism site.
  • Providing measurement, analysis and reporting to ensure PHC’s priorities are being met and social media is being leveraged most effectively.
  • Providing consultation and training to leadership and staff.
  • Keeping up to date on the latest tools and social media tactics being used by innovative organizations, and how to take advantage of opportunities to use new technologies and approaches.

You ideally have a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communication, Digital Marketing, Public Relations or equivalent plus three (3) to five (5) years of organizational communications experience including significant writing and storytelling experience. In addition, you will have a proven track record of managing social media platforms for large organizations.
