Fred Lee Social Network: Brilliant! runway party fashions record night, while brunch bunch boosts bucks for AIDS care (Dr. Bill MacEwan)
After three years at the Commodore Ballroom, St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation severed ties with the venue and creator of Brilliant! — a unique event for mental health — moving the party to the Rocky Mountaineer train station for its fourth instalment.
Creative differences aside, the yearly fundraiser drew another sold out crowd of fashionistas and tastemakers to the show-stopping night of fashion, art and dance.
A spectacular picture of philanthropy was painted throughout the evening as close to 700 guests entered a gallery of wonders celebrating iconic artists such as Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet and Salvador Dali, all touched by mental illness and addiction. Led by the show’s new creative team of Vladimir Markovich and Ghazel Elhaei, an army of local designers, stylists, models, performers and makeup artists volunteered their time and talent to bring the gallery and 60-minute runway show to life.
