Youth on DTES twice as likely to experiment with intravenous drugs: study
A new study has found that youth living on Vancouver’s drug-riddled Downtown Eastside are twice as likely as at-risk youth in other neighbourhoods to experiment with intravenous drugs.
Dr. Evan Wood, lead researcher at the B.C. Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS and lead author of the peer-reviewed study, spent six years following 422 Vancouver vulnerable youth, 98 of whom reported living in the Downtown Eastside. The rest lived in other neighbourhoods. Read more here.
