Three years ago, Jack Cheung’s failing kidneys were destroying his quality of life. “I couldn’t work for more than two hours at a time,” says the 58-year-old automotive technician. “My hands would cramp, my feet were swollen and I couldn’t stand for more than half an hour.” He knew what he had to do, but had been holding off until the last possible moment.
