The Tinnitus Clinic at St. Paul’s provides therapy to people who suffer from tinnitus and/or hyperacusis (sound intolerance). Patients who come to the clinic are offered Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT) with a specially trained audiologist. TRT is our preferred therapy for tinnitus management.
The goal of Tinnitus Retraining Therapy is to lessen the effect tinnitus has on a patients’ life. Through TRT, tinnitus can become less annoying and less noticeable. There are two components to TRT, including teaching and counseling sessions, and sound therapy. Counseling sessions are offered on both individual and group basis, depending on patient need.
Individuals wishing to come to The Tinnitus Clinic should arrange to have their Otolaryngologist (ENT) consult letter and most recent hearing test faxed to SPH Audiology Department. Once this is received, patients can call to book an appointment.
This service is not covered by MSP. A fee will be applied depending on the service provided.
