Post-COVID Recovery Clinic (Virtual) Closed

About this clinic

The Post-COVID Recovery Clinic is a virtual clinic. Staff care for post-COVID patients from across British Columbia via telephone or video calls.

Post COVID, also known as long COVID, is a term to describe symptoms people continue to experience for at least three months after they were infected with the virus. The symptoms can have a major negative impact on people’s day-to-day lives.

The clinic offers group education sessions and rehabilitation support from nurses, social workers, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.

In a small number of cases, the clinic’s staff may also put patients in touch with physician specialists.

Those living with symptoms of long COVID need a referral from their family doctor or other primary care provider to receive the services from the clinic.

Clinical trials & research

Long COVID continues to be a mystery. We don’t know what causes the symptoms and there is no cure yet. What we do know is that it has a negative impact on people’s daily lives.

Knowledge about this condition continues to evolve. There may be opportunities to participate in clinical trials and research.

Participation in research is a decision you should make for yourself together with your care team. However, much activity in this field is taking place. Don't hesitate to ask us about our research programs if you’re interested.

There is no pressure to participate.

By taking part in research, you can help us learn more about long COVID and find better ways to help people live with the condition. Your participation can make a difference in improving care for future patients.

Medical & professional referrals

Criteria

Physicians can refer patients to the program if they meet certain criteria.

The clinic sees patients with persistent symptoms that have affected their daily lives for more than three months after a presumed or a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis and illness.

Note: Physicians can refer patients to this clinic only after they have conducted a detailed medical exam on the person. Physicians must look closely at other causes for symptoms before the referral can take place.

This checklist provides information for physicians about tests that are required before a referral can take place:
