Senior Scene: Stay active this winter (Dr. Scott Lear)
The first eight days of 2019 have come and gone and I am hopeful that some of you have made some health-oriented resolutions and are sticking to them. A new year should motivate us to improve our health, feel good about ourselves and have more energy. I was reading an article by Dr. Scott Lear (leading researcher in the prevention and management of heart disease) in the Heart and Stroke newsletter and he had some really insightful suggestions for a happier, healthier year.
Move more. Most of us do not get enough physical activity to keep us healthy and protect us from disease. This does not mean you have to go to the gym every day but it does mean getting up and moving around. The recommendation is for 30 or more minutes per day of activity. Here are some simple ways to get activity in your day.
