Start HIV Treatment Without Delay: Study (Dr. Julio Montaner)
A long-standing question in HIV care has been answered: triple-drug therapy should begin as soon as possible.
That's the bottom line from the Strategic Timing of Antiretroviral Therapy (START) trial, according to Jens Lundgren, MD, of the University of Copenhagen.
But the studies taken together nail down the benefit of early treatment, commentedJulio Montaner, MD, of the B.C. Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, who moderated a press conference at which Lundgren spoke.
