Speech Language Pathology
Speech-language pathologists are trained to evaluate and treat speech, language and swallowing disorders that may be caused by stroke, head injury, degenerative diseases, tracheostomy, infectious diseases, brain tumours or head and neck surgeries. Services at Providence Health Care include the assessment and diagnosis of communication and swallowing disorders; providing staff and family with strategies to facilitate communication and swallowing; providing augmentative communication devices for non-verbal patients; and providing direct treatment for patients and counseling for families.
