Home to 42 residents, and a specialized mental health unit for older adults.
Youville Residence is a multi-level care facility located across from Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver. It is home to seniors residents on the 2nd and 3rd floors, and a 37-bed tertiary mental health older adult unit on the 4th and 5th floors.
At Youville, residents live in one of two community areas (floors) called neighbourhoods. The other residents, family members and caregivers are part of this community. Each neighbourhood has a small lounge where residents can enjoy time alone, visit with family or share special times with friends. Our staffing is set up to promote relationships and impromptu activities. We know a predictable schedule helps many people, especially those residents who have a challenge remembering things. We also know fun and spontaneity are essential to living.
A spacious lounge and special events room is located on the main floor. It includes a gift shop run by Youville volunteers. The special events room opens up to our peaceful garden areas for residents and families to enjoy and our chapel on the main floor provides a tranquil space.
Parkview is a 37-bed intensive support program for older adults who have dementia and complex behavioural and psychological symptoms. Located on the 4th and 5th floors at Youville Residence, Parkview is a fully renovated space featuring private rooms with bathrooms, a lounge, a large dining area and a secure outdoor garden space.
Our Parkview program provides a safe, supportive, and non-institutional environment for those we care for. Our goal is to help settle the behaviours of our clients to the point that they are ready to be discharged into residential care or other supportive housing options based on their needs. Parkview provides an acute tertiary mental health services as part of Providence Health Care.
Our community is warm and inviting, where:
- All people are welcome and welcome each other.
- The care of the body and spirit are equally valued.
- The day is filled with all kinds of activities – both planned and unplanned.
- Animals, plants, children and the wider community are part of your daily life.
- You feel recognized and valued for who you are, your life experiences and your abilities.
We encourage residents and clients to personalize their rooms with cherished possessions, photographs and mementos and to get to know their neighbours, who they are and where they came from. We welcome a diverse and multicultural population, with our staff representing a similar diversity of cultures.
