Samuel Bugis

Dr. Bugis is a graduate of the University of Alberta where he completed medical school and a 5-year General Surgery program. This was followed by a year as Clinical Scholar in Head and Neck Surgery at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario and a second year at MD Anderson Medical Center, University of Texas, Houston, Texas. Dr. Bugis is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery, UBC. His surgical practice concentrates on head and neck and endocrine surgery while still doing a broad spectrum of General Surgery (Biliary Tract, Upper GI, hernia). Research interests are related to thyroid and parathyroid surgery.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bugis has contributed in many different ways to the profession and the public as a Chief of Surgery, Royal College Fellowship examiner, Head of the Provincial Section of General Surgery, Specialist negotiator for the BCMA, Member of the Royal College Regional Advisory Committee and Department of Surgery Clinical Faculty Representative.
