We are currently seeking a temporary, part-time Registered Nurse who has completed both a perinatal nursing specialty certificate and neonatal resuscitation certification. Experience in a maternity setting with both a labour and birth component is required. The maternity department at St. Paul’s Hospital has 16 private labour, delivery, and recovery postpartum rooms. The department is classified as a Level 3 maternity centre, meaning those with complex pregnancies or existing medical problems are supported.

Summary

Reporting to the Operations Leader, the Staff Nurse, assesses, identifies, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care required to assist patients/residents in meeting their physical, social, spiritual and psychological needs. The Staff Nurse works within an interdisciplinary clinical framework in accordance with the CRNBC/CRPNBC Standards of Practice and consistent with the mission, vision and values and established protocols of Providence Health Care. 

Education

Registered Nurse with current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia or, in Residential Care and Mental Health a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with current practicing registration with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of British Columbia. Completion of the Basic Cardiac Life Support Course, Level C. Two years’ recent experience in a maternity setting with a labour and birth component and/or recent completion of a Perinatal Nursing Specialty certificate and/or recent Midwifery certificate. Current neonatal resuscitation certification.
