Summary

Reporting to the Professional Practice Leader (PPL) Occupational Therapy, and receiving guidance and support from the Research, Education and Practice Coordinator, the position supports the interdisciplinary program/team in achieving program and resident goals. The position provides Occupational Therapy services to designated patients/residents / clients within the Mission, Vision, Values and strategic direction of Providence Health Care and within the context of a person and family centered Recovery model. Provides advanced clinical advice regarding the specialized needs of residents who have complex mental health illnesses and may have co-occurring addictions and medical conditions, to enable clients to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes. Provides leadership to the interdisciplinary team, participates in the development of occupational therapy resources, supervises and directs the work of the designated staff and provides functional direction to total care workers. Participates in evaluating treatment practices and protocols within the occupational therapy team to promote excellence in occupational therapy practice. Participates as a member of local, provincial/federal committees, linking the hospital program to external services and resources.

Education

Baccalaureate degree in Occupational Therapy. Up to three (3) years of recent related experience, including one (1) year in the designated program area and two (2) years experience working in a psychiatric setting with individuals who have complex mental health and addictions issues.
Registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia.
Eligible for membership with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.
