Medical Release of Information Clerk
We have an exciting casual Medical Release of Information Position that has recently opened up to help support the BC Cancer Agency in beautiful Victoria, have completed a course in medical release of information , have a strong clerical and/or medical background, have completed a course in Health Information Management and Hospital Support Specialist, CHIMA certified or have completed a program that has a course on medical release of information and have high attention to detail we want to hear from you! You must be available to work shifts that can range anytime between Monday through Friday 8AM until 4PM on an on call basis!
Health Information Management (HIM) provides services for Fraser Health (FH), Providence Health Care (PHC), the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) and Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). HIM is a leader in the collection, storage, and use of patient information within British Columbia. Providence Health Care is the lead organization for HIM, and employs over 1,350 HIM staff across Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, the Sea-to-Sky Corridor, the Sunshine Coast and the Regional Cancer Centres (Victoria, Kelowna, Prince George, Abbotsford, Surrey, Vancouver).

Health Information Management offers casual employees a variety of work location opportunities at various locations across B.C. This vacancy is strictly for individuals interested in working on a casual basis in the records management department.
Reporting to the Manager/Coordinator, or designate, the Release of Information (ROI) Clerk performs duties related to the release of clinical information in accordance with policies, procedures, legislation and standards in the retrieval, severing, photocopying/scanning, electronic/paper distribution of health care documentation/reports. Responds to requests from internal/external sources for information regarding confidentiality and release of information policies and procedures; attends to legal requests for personal information and other related requirements.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Ability to organize work.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to keyboard at 45 words per minute.
Grade 12, successful completion of courses related to release of information and two (2) years of recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Please only apply if you meet the following requirements:

This Critical Care Training Opportunity is for the ICU/CICU Pre-requisite by distance: Jan 6-June 21, 2020 6 Mandatory Classroom dates: Jan 28, March 17, April 2, April 30, May 12, May 26, 2020. Classroom/Clinical (employer-paid, full time): June 29-Sept 22, 2020.
