Medical Registration Clerk (Clerk IV)
We have some exciting casual medical registration positions that have recently been posted to help support the Abbotsford Hospital, BC Cancer Agency Abbotsford, Delta Hospital,JP Outpatient Surrey,Langley Memorial Hospital, Peace Arch, D and Surrey Memorial Hospital. If you reside in the Fraser Valley Area or are willing to commute to the Fraser Valley on a regular basis,have a strong clerical, knowledge of medical terminology and have a strong client facing background, high attention to detail we want to your hear from you! In order to be considered for the role you must be available to work nights, days, evenings and/or weekends (commit to 3-5 shifts per week) and be available to work on an on call basis with no guaranteed shifts! Please note you are required to be available to pick up short call (1-5 hours of notice) and pre-book shifts.
Health Information Management (HIM) provides services for Fraser Health (FH), Providence Health Care (PHC), the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) and Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). HIM is a leader in the collection, storage, and use of patient information within British Columbia. Providence Health Care is the lead organization for HIM, and employs over 1,350 HIM staff across Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, the Sea-to-Sky Corridor, the Sunshine Coast and the Regional Cancer Centres (Victoria, Kelowna, Prince George, Abbotsford, Surrey, Vancouver).

Registers patients (including inpatients, outpatients, ambulatory care patients and emergency patients) in the computerized admission/discharge/transfer system. Processes preadmissions, admissions, and discharges. Identifies and provides available bed options to appropriate clinical staff as requested
Ability to keyboard at 45 w.p.m.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Education And Experience
Grade 12 and two years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- You are a graduate from an medical office assistant, hospital support specialist program or health information management diploma
- Have knowledge of medical terminology
- You have 2 years recent experience working in registration or in an equivalent role
- You have 2 years’ experience in an administrative and customer service role with medical terminology knowledge
