Summary
Reporting to the Supervisor, Cardiology Lab, the ECG Assistant performs Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing and equipment maintenance and assists Cardiology Technologists with stress testing and other related procedures.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to type.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Performs ECG testing by performing duties such as attaching electrodes to the patient and operating equipment according to standards procedures.
Prepares tracings for review and interpretation by others.
Performs a variety of duties under the supervision of a Cardiology Technologist such as operating ECG equipment during stress testing and related procedures and scanning recordings from equipment such as holter monitors and pacemakers.
Performs a variety of clerical duties including scheduling appointments, filing and retrieving patient reports, answering the telephone, editing physician reports based on physician feedback and maintaining billing records and statistics.
Maintains equipment by performing duties such as cleaning, replacing leads and other supplies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education
Grade 12 plus one year’s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Duties
Participates in preparing patients for ECG and related tests by performing duties such as explaining procedures and answering related questions.Performs ECG testing by performing duties such as attaching electrodes to the patient and operating equipment according to standards procedures.
Prepares tracings for review and interpretation by others.
