Preparing for Surgery
Before Coming to the Hospital
The night before, or the morning of your surgery, please make sure to do the following:
Shower and wash your hair. Take off all jewellery, watches and body piercings including tongue studs. Take off make-up, nail polish, false eyelashes, and wigs or hairpieces.
Read over the 'Patient Safety' pamphlet with your family. Read over and practice the breathing and leg exercises that you were shown to do after your surgery. Pack a small bag with toiletries, a housecoat, and slippers (with non-slip soles). Arrange for a family member or friend to bring your small bag to your room after surgery. Do not bring your small bag with you to Surgical Daycare. We have limited storage. Also note that we are not responsible for any lost or stolen articles.
Please let your visitors know that our visiting hours are from 12:00 pm (noon) to 8:00 pm daily. Due to the limited space we have, please try to limit your visitors to two at a time.
