Orthopedic "Swing Rooms" Improve Patient Care and Decrease Waiting Lists
VANCOUVER - The Department of Anesthesia is proud to have been involved in the development of a new operating room organizational structure designed to improve efficiency, improve patient care and decrease waiting lists.
Orthopedic "swing rooms" rely on specialty anesthesiologists to coordinate a team to deliver both regional and general anesthesia to minimize turn over between cases. Regional anesthesia, delivered by a dedicated regional anesthesiologist, allows for quicker recovery, less intensive post-operative monitoring and improved post-operative analgesia.
This advanced technique guided by the latest ultrasound technology has been well received by patients and surgeons alike. We are proud to be involved in continually advancing patient care and treating patients how they want to be treated.
