Dianne Doyle was appointed in September 2006 as President and Chief Executive Officer of Providence Health Care, one of Canada's largest faith-based health care organizations based in Vancouver, BC. Dianne brings to the role more than 20 years of senior executive experience in health care and over 25 years directly at Providence Health Care. Before taking on this new role, Dianne was a Vice President of Clinical Programs at Providence Health Care. Dianne began her career as a staff nurse at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC, but since then has worked exclusively in our Providence Health Care facilities. She was a Head Nurse and Medical Instructor at St. Paul's Hospital and then moved to Mount Saint Joseph Hospital as Vice President Patient Care Services. She became the Chief Operating Officer and Vice President, Patient Care and Support Services for Mount Saint Joseph in 1995/96 and was then named Acting President and Chief Executive Officer, CHARA Health Care Society, which at the time included Mount Saint Joseph Hospital, St. Vincent's Hospital, and Youville elder care residence. Dianne is recognized as a champion of Catholic health care provincially and nationally. She is the immediate past Chair of the Catholic Health Association of Canada, Vice Chair of the Catholic Health Association of BC and Chair of the Denominational Health Association of BC. Dianne was also the inaugural Chair of the BC Health Care Leaders Association, subsequently serving as a board member for several years. Dianne is currently a fellow of the Canadian College of Health Services Executives (CCHSE); member of the Royal Roads University Centre for Health Leadership and Research Advisory Board and the Association of Canadian Academic Healthcare Organizations Board; Chair of Board of Canadian Advanced Medical Services International (CAMSI); and past member of the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation (CHSRF) EXTRA Advisory Council. Mary Procter was appointed the Vice President of Finance & Corporate Affairs for Providence Health Care on August 8, 2006. Mary brings 20 years of finance experience to PHC, including over 17 years of accounting, business affairs management, and financial and operational planning in the health care field. She has extensive leadership experience, guiding and overseeing the corporate financial planning in various health care organizations. Prior to joining PHC, Mary served as Regional Director of Financial Planning and Corporate Support for Vancouver Coastal Health, Finance Leader for the Vancouver/Richmond Health Board and Business Affairs Director for Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre. David Byres was appointed Chief of Professional Practice and Nursing in May 2007 and the Vice President, Clinical Programs in August 2008. David began his career at Providence Health Care as a staff nurse in 1997. He became a Patient Care Leader for Mental Health in 2001 and was then appointed as the Director of the Mental Health Program and then as the Director of Nursing Practice. David brings with him over 17 years of professional experience in the health-care field, including in the areas of mental health and nursing. His portfolio includes responsibility as the Chief Nursing Officer spanning professional practice and education for nursing as well as the senior leader responsible for professional practice in all allied health disciplines. He is also responsible for the Mental Health, Addictions and clinical HIV/AIDS programs as well at PHC's urban health and aboriginal strategies. David's leadership focuses on providing coordinated, interprofessional, evidence based, safe and competent care. He is responsible for the implementation of strategic directions for the mental health, addictions and HIV/AIDS programs along with nursing and allied health. He leads the continuing advancement of nursing and allied health practice and ensures the establishment, implementation and evaluation of standards of practice, quality management and academic and research advancement for professionals across Providence Health Care. David is a registered nurse who received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Victoria and his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of British Columbia. Dr. Ronald Carere
Acting Vice President Medical Affairs

Dr. Carere received a BSc degree from the University of Guelph (1980) and his MD degree from the University of Ottawa (1984). He did postgraduate training in Toronto earning his Fellowship in Internal Medicine 1988 and Cardiology in 1990. He went on to complete a two-year Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology and Research at Toronto General Hospital from 1989 to 1991. Dr. Carere joined the Division of Cardiology at St. Paul's in 1991. His continuing clinical practice focuses on Interventional Cardiology with a special interest in interventions in congenital heart disease and CCU medicine. He served as the Associate Head of the Division of Cardiology from 1998 to 2001. In 2001 he took on the role of Physician Director of the Heart Centre Program and in 2004 he also assumed responsibilities as the Regional Director of the Cardiac Program for the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. He became Chair of the Providence Health Care Medical Advisory Committee from the fall of 2006 until May of 2010 when he took on the role of Acting Vice President of Medicine. He has been a member of the Provincial Advisory panel on Cardiac Health since 1995, now a committee of Cardiac Services BC at the PHSA. Bonita Elliott
Acting Vice President, Clinical Programs

Bonita Elliott was appointed Acting Vice President, Clinical Programs and Site Director St. Paul's Hospital in April 2010. She has been seconded from her role as Program Director Acute and Access Services. Bonita joined PHC in 2003 as Operations Leader of the St. Paul's Hospital Intensive Care Unit. Bonita has over 30 years experience in critical care nursing and has spent the last 16 years in leadership roles. In recent years, she has led numerous operational and programmatic initiatives at PHC (such as the ICU Collaborative, the Medicine Advancement Project, Regional Critical Care Council leadership, the Emergency Department Pay-for-Performance Initiative, etc.) to improve care, reduce costs, and provide innovative solutions to growing service challenges. Bonita obtained her nursing diploma from Royal Columbian Hospital in 1972.She later went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with distinction, from the University of Victoria in 1996. Bonita is an active member of the CRNBC and was awarded the 2009 Excellence in Nursing Administration Award from the CRNBC. Victoria Ostler
Corporate Director, Strategic Alignment

Victoria Ostler was appointed the Corporate Director, Strategic Alignment in February 2010. In her role, she leads the development, ongoing renewal and implementation of PHC's strategic plan to further advance PHC's contributions to health care in BC and impact as an academic health science centre. Victoria brings to PHC sixteen years of experience in health administration. Prior to joining PHC, she was Principal of Ostler Healthcare Consulting Inc., an independent consulting firm providing strategic and program planning. She has also held senior leadership positions including the position of Vice-President, Corporate and Program Planning at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. A graduate of the Masters in Health Science program in Health Administration from the University of Toronto, Victoria holds the Certified Health Executive (CHE) designation in the Canadian College of Health Service Executives and Fellowship (FACHE) in the American College of Healthcare Executives. She is actively involved with the national office of the Canadian College of Health Service Executives, particularly in the area of professional certification, and is a candidate in the Fellowship (FCCHSE) program. Shaf Hussain was appointed Corporate Director, Community and Stakeholder Engagement in February 2010. Shaf brings with him over nineteen years experience in communications, public and stakeholders relations. Shaf provides senior leadership for Providence Health Care stakeholder-relations activities, including developing strategies and implementing plans to strengthen relationships and formal networks of PHC's unique community, corporate, patient/resident and faith-based health care groups and partners. He is responsible for Media Services division at Providence, and also works closely with Providence foundations to enhance coordination of reputation building and public engagement initiatives. Shaf came to Providence as the Leader of External Relations in 2003, and subsequently served as Chief Communications Officer from August 2007 to January 2010. Prior to that, he held diverse positions including serving as the Director of Communications for the British Columbia Public Sector Employers' Council Secretariat. He also held various communications positions for BC's Ministries of Finance, Labour, the Liquor Distribution Branch and the Premier's Office. Dr. Yvonne Lefebvre has had a stellar career in research in molecular biology and biochemistry and has an extensive background in the management of research and academic programs in universities and teaching hospitals. She is currently an Associate Dean and a Clinical Professor, Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia. Dr. Lefebvre also holds the positions of Associate Vice-Rector Research and Adjunct Professor, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa, and Associate Scientist at the Ottawa Health Research Institute. Dr. Lefebvre has served on numerous national and international committees, is a Past President of the Canadian Biochemical and Molecular Biology Society and a past member of the Advisory Board of the Institute of Gender and Health of the Canadian Institutes for Health Research. Neil MacConnell joined Providence Health Care in September 1998. He is responsible for the Providence Legacy Projects, which include St. Vincent's Heather Campus of Care, Richmond Campus of Care, Mount Saint Joseph's transformation and St. Paul's renewal. Neil has over 25 years of architectural, planning and construction experience in health care. He has extensive experience in project management from inception to completion, including programming, master planning, design and construction, project and construction cost control and project scheduling. Tom joined Providence in August 2004 as Vice President, Mission, Ethics & Spirituality. A member of the Brothers of Holy Cross, he brings to the position a strong background of leadership in mission and organizational integrity, and the fostering of a culture grounded in a living spiritually within and for Catholic health organizations. Prior to joining Providence, Tom was Vice President, Organizational Advancement with the Caritas Health Group in Edmonton. His areas of responsibility there included mission ethics, spiritual care and leadership development. He also served for 10 years as Director of Mission Services for the Alberta Catholic Health Corporation and has taught graduate courses in Christian Spirituality at St. Stephen's Theological College at the University of Alberta. Tom received his Doctor of Ministry in Organization Ethics and Spirituality from the Pacific School of Theology in Berkeley California. He also has a MA degree in organization/social ethics from the Pacific School of Theology, Berkeley, as well as a MA in English Literature from the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN. He began his career in Catholic education, teaching high school and then moved onto college and graduate courses at different schools of higher learning. Zulie joined Providence Health Care as Vice President of Human Resources and General Counsel in November 2001. In addition to her human resources responsibilities, Zulie also acts as General Counsel, managing all legal-related matters for the organization. Prior to embarking on a legal career, Zulie was Director of Human Resources at the Orthopedic and Arthritic Hospital in Toronto. She has a background in health administration and in law, with experience in health and human resource management, human rights, international development and administrative law. She holds a BA in Sociology and Political Science, a Masters of Health Science, and was called to the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1992 and the Law Society of British Columbia in 2001. Barbara Trerise was appointed the Corporate Director Quality Improvement and Information Management at Providence Health Care (PHC) in June of 2006. Barbara's portfolio focuses on providing the in-depth analysis, best practices, data and research to support the Senior Leadership Team's strategic decisions and includes responsibility for providing leadership to the development and operations of the Call Centre, Client Registration & Information Services, Health Records Services, Administrative Decision Support, Quality & Utilization Improvement, and Accreditation. For Information Management, her leadership will focus on the art and science of changing or transforming data and information into useful knowledge. For Quality Improvement, she leads the development of PHC's balanced scorecard, performance indicators and the quality improvement culture throughout the hospital. Barbara has over 25 years experience working in a variety of hospital-based nursing and administrative positions in British Columbia and Ontario. She has published articles in the areas of economic evaluation, evaluation of new work roles and utilization management. She also has been a member of various regional and provincial committees and has provided consulting services in both provinces. Barbara completed her undergraduate degree in Administrative Studies at York University, received a Master's Degree in Health Administration at the University of Toronto and is a Faculty Associate for the Centre for Evaluation and Outcome Sciences. David Thompson is Corporate Director - Seniors Care at Providence Health Care. In this role, he is responsible for residential services, rehabilitation services, geriatric acute medicine and mental health and assisted living services at this multi-site organization. Previously, he was Director of Residential Services for the Fraser Health Authority in British Columbia responsible for Residential Services in New Westminster and Maple Ridge. These services included complex residential care, subacute care, convalescent care and specialized geriatric ambulatory services. Prior to moving to the Residential Services portfolio, David was the Director of Health Information Systems & Services with Fraser Health. He also worked in Information Management with Providence Health Care in Vancouver prior to joining Fraser Health. David's career also includes Director roles in the field of Quality & Utilization Improvement in British Columbia. David holds a Master of Health Sciences (Health Administration) from The University of Toronto and a Certificate in Health Promotion & Adult Education from the University of Western Ontario. David is a member of the Canadian College of Health Service Executive (CCHSE) and is Vice-Chair of the Lower Mainland Chapter Executive Council for CCHSE.
