Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer
Wendy Hansson was appointed as Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) in October 2016. She is accountable for leading and enabling the strategic transformation, planning, transition and execution required to support the new St. Paul's redevelopment - transforming systems and services to shape PHC’s contribution into the future to meet the needs of the people we serve.
Wendy's career in complex health systems has spanned over 20 years. She brings a wealth of senior management experience in clinical operations, health care system transformation, capital and strategic planning, and policy development at the provincial, regional and local levels across the care continuum. Prior to returning to PHC, Wendy was Senior Strategic Advisor and Executive Lead of Primary Care within the BC Ministry of Health. She has previously held executive positions including Chief Operating Officer, Vancouver Coastal Health and Vice President, Interior Health.
In addition, she worked several years with Ernst & Young National Health Care Consulting Practice and the Ontario Ministry of Health. Wendy has a deep connection to Providence Health Care, having previously held the roles of Program Director, Acute Services and Site Leader, St. Paul's Hospital, from 2002 to 2006 as well as Vice President, Clinical Programs and Site Leader, St. Paul's Hospital, from 2006 to 2010.
Wendy holds Bachelor of Science (Kinesiology) and Masters in Health Administration degrees from the University of Ottawa, and achieved her Certified Health Executive and Certified Management Consultant designations. Wendy is driven by her values-based, collaborative and relationship-based leadership style, and has a passion for inspiring diverse groups of stakeholders and teams to stand behind a common vision to enable their success.
