Respiratory Therapists (RTs) at Providence Health Care are a dynamic and vital part of the patient care team. Valued for their clinical expertise, RTs at PHC work in all areas of care and are respected for their work as first responders to acute crises thoughout the organization . We utilize the latest technology and research to provide care to a diverse patient population. Educational opportunities abound at PHC, and RTs are encouraged and supported to attend. Teamwork and a collaborative approach to patient care are key elements that make PHC such a desirable place to work.

Our services are offered at:

St. Paul's Hospital is an acute care, academic and research hospital located in beautiful downtown Vancouver. With over 500 acute care beds in use and home to a variety of world-clas medical and surgical programs, the hospital serves both the local community and patients from across the province. It is one of the clinical internship sites for Respiratory Therapy students from Thompson Rivers University (TRU) in Kamloops, BC. Advanced clinical internships are also available for students enrolled in the Anesthesia Assistant program thru TRU.

• Cardiopulmonary Diagnostics
• Infectious Disease Clinic
• Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program
• Asthma & COPD Education
• Palliative Care
• Maternity & Special Care Nursery (Level II)

Mount Saint Joseph (MSJ) Hospital is a community hospital that has a multicultural approach to service delivery and clinical programs. MSJ boasts a state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit and newly renovated Ambulatory Care Unit. Standards of care are exemplary, the Respiratory Therapists are an integral part of the care team.

• Cardiopulmonary Diagnostics

Other PHC Sites:
Respiratory Therapists provide consultative services to the many other sites under the Providence Health Care banner, ensuring that the standards for respiratory care are consistent throughout the organization.

Hours of Work
Most RTs at PHC work extended hour shifts, providing round-the-clock respiratory care seven days a week. Respiratory Therapists working in pulmonary diagnostic and patient education areas work Monday to Friday.
